It's the final poll of the year-the 2026 MileSplit LA Girls Outdoor Athlete of the Year poll. Congratulations to the finalists who earned a spot on this poll by winning a MileSplti LA Perfomer Of The Week poll during the season. Now, the track and field community will decide who wins it all. This poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
Treasure Matthews (Acadiana Renaissance)--Matthews had a season best of 18-3.5 in the long jump. That effort came in a win at the Beaver Club Relays. Her season best in the triple jump came in week one. She scored in both events at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships. Her highest finish was in the long jump where she finished as the runner-up
Aaliyah Lane (John Curtis)-- Lane was the District 9-5A champion in the 800 meters with a season best 2:16.22. She finished fifth at the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Championships with a 2:19.09. Lane also had a season best of 57.62 at the Chubby Marks Classic in April.
Olivia Crews (St. Joseph's)-- Crews had personal records in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters in 2026. Her 1600 meter personal record came at the District 4-5A Championship where she was the runner-up. Crews set her personal record in the 3200 meters at the Bronco Relays during week two.
Emma Smith (Delcambre)--Smith continued the momentum from amazing indoor season where she was tied with four other jumpers for fifth in the nation with a best of 5-10 at the McNeese Indoor No. 2. That was mark she had planned to reach by the end of the outdoor season. Instead, she jumped 5-10 seven times during the outdoor season and even cleared 6-0 on one occasion--The Panther Relays on March 27th. Smith never lost a high jump competition in Louisiana. The only time she finished second was the Texas Relays. Smith is ranked No. 4 in the nation.
Naleah Crandle (Mandeville)-- After winning the St. Tammany Parish title in the 100 meters with a personal record 11.83, Crandle kept the momentum going by winning the District 8-5A championships. Crandle finished sixth at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships with a wind-aided 12.03.
Eden Dawsey (Ruston)--Dawsey an a 5:08 personal record at the LA Mile Festival. She followed that up with a District 2-5A championship in the event. She closed our her sophomore campaign by helping the Bearcats to a state championship in the 4x800 relay.
Nyla Stewart (Alexandria)--Stewart had a perfect season in the discus winning every competition she entered. It ended with an LHSAA Class 5A state championship in the discus. Her season best was 148-2 at the Grizzly Relays. That mark ranks No 4 all-time in Louisiana.
Jayde Williams (Chalmette)--Won four out of six 100 meter and 300 meter hurdle races before the championship season began. She claimed a District 7-5A and Region 3-5A championships in the event with times of 45.87 and 45.86.
Kaitlyn Sawyer (Hathaway)--Sawyer finished her amazing career with a distance triple at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships. Won the 1600 meters with a 5:13.29. Returned to win the 800 meters in 2:22 before finishing with one final LHSAA state championship race--the 3200 meters--which she won with a time of 11:50.
Addison Outlaw-Knight (Evans)--Outlaw-Knight helped Evans with the LHSAA state championship. She won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.92. Her winning 300 meter relay time was 47.01. Both times were personal records.
