Going into the 2024 Louisiana track and field season, it had been 20 years since Glen Oaks had won an LHSAA State Championship in track and field. Under the direction of head coach Johnny Duncan, in his second year at his alma mater, the Panthers swept both the indoor and outdoor state titles this year.
For his efforts, Duncan was named the Boys' Coach Of The Year by the Louisiana Track & Field Coaches Association and USTFCCCA.
Just this week, Duncan was asked to speak at the LHSCA Coaches' Convention in Baton Rouge. As he presented, Duncan got emotional as he thought back to all he had experienced during Glen Oaks' storybook year.
