It's still early in the Louisiana HS outdoor season, but we are starting to see evidence of the sprinters who put in some serious work during the off season.
Last year, Acadiana's Tourean Campbell was an average 800m runner for the Wrecking Rams. This year, he is one of the best 400m runners in the state. Currently, he is ranked No. 7 in Louisiana. What a difference a year has made for Campbell, who is the No. 1 most improved Louisiana high school sprinter in the state. He has improved 6.55 seconds. And he is just getting started.
C.E. Byrd's Wyatt Ditt has made leaps and bounds in the event as well. Last year, Ditt had a personal best of 56.57. This season, Ditt is the No. 1 sophomore in the state with a time of 51.21. That time came at C.E. Byrd's Yellow Jacket Relays in cold, windy conditions.
