It's time to vote for this week's MileSplit LA Girls Performer Of The Week. Congratulations to all of the finalists. The winner will advance to the make the MileSplit LA Girls' Athlete Of The Year ballot at the end of the season. This poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
BELLA BIGGERSTAFF (ASCENSION EPISCOPAL)--The distance triple is some serious running-especially during the championship season in Louisiana high school track and field. Biggerstaff has handled it well-winning everything. She did the same thing last year at regionals, but did not come away with a gold medal. This year, she won all three races.
First, she won the 1600 meters (5:37). She followed that with a win in 800 meters (2:30). She capped the afternoon off with a 12:24 in the 3200 meters.
Last year at state, Biggerstaff and her coaches chose not to run the 800 meters. That was a smart decision as it allowed her to get her first state championship in the 3200 meters (11:43).
KELSEY BOMERSBACH (VERMILION CATHOLIC)--It's unusual to find a freshman leading the state rankings in any event, but-then again-Bomersbach is not your typical high school track and field athlete. She leads Class 1A in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14:57, which she ran at regionals last week. She also won the 200 meters (26.39). She dabbled in the 300 meters at the beginning of the season, before making the decision to concentrate on her specialty.
Last year, Bomersbach finished second in Class 1A as an eighth grader. This Thursday, she looks to win her first state championship at LSU's Bernie Moore Stadium.
KAITLYN SAWYER (HATHAWAY)--Continued her perfect season by winning the distance triple at the Class B-Region 3 Meet. She has won all twelve races she has competed in this year. The highlight was a personal record in the 3200 meters (11:34) at the Pat Arceneux Relays.
MADISON STANLEY (ANACOCO)-- Leads Class B in both the 200 meters (27.47) and the 400 meters (1:00.72). Stanley also ranks No. 2 in the triple jump with a 34-1.25. Stanley won all three events at the Class B Region 2 Meet last wee.
REAGAN CLUTTER(SIMPSON)-- Leads Class C in both the high jump (5-1) and the long jump (17-5). She has gone undefeated this year in the three meets she has participated in. Clutter is hoping to win her fourth straight state championship on Thursday. If Clutter wins the long jump state championship it will her first in that event. She finished as the runner-up in 2025 (16-4) and 2022 (15-11w).
