HOUSTON - Northwestern State's Trecey Rew shattered her own school record in the shot put on Saturday at the Houston Indoor Invitational, highlighting a day for the NSU squad that saw she and teammate Michael Green post first places in their respective events. Rew threw a 51-5 in the shot put, breaking her record of 51-0 ¼ set two weeks ago at Texas A&M. She won the event by nearly four feet as Stephen F. Austin's Frednisha Marshall place second with a throw of 47-10. Green took home a first place in the 400 meter dash after posting a 48.70 clocking and edging out Kelvin Furlough of Southwest Christian by .28 seconds. It's the third fastest time in the Southland Conference this season. He also owns the second fastest with a 47.91 time at Texas A&M two weeks ago. NSU also got a seventh place finish in the women's shot put by Chantel Bratton who threw a 43-3 ¾, which is the ninth best toss in the league this year. Jessica Tuck placed sixth in the long jump with a season-best 18-9 ¼, reaching that mark on her sixth and final attempt. And Andrea Warren finished seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.64, a season best. On the men's side, Reginald Douglas had a fourth place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 47-5 ¼ while Joshua Commiato placed fifth in the high jump with a clearing of 6-8 ¼, a season best.
