MileSplit LA Future Stars: Four Fab Fr. From Class Of '27!

ANNA LAKE WATTS (RIGHT) RUNS NEAR THE FRONT PACK AT THE BORDER DASH

The Class of 2027 continues to shine during the 2023 season. As the season continues, we continue to identify MileSplit LA Future Stars. This week, we offer up four MileSplit LA Future Stars who have had fabulous starts to their high school career.

  1. Jordan Buchert (Baton Rouge High) - The freshman won Brusly's Cinclaire Run on the Levee on Saturday. Buchert's time was 18:22. It was one second off from his personal record 18:21, which he ran earlier in the month at the Episcopal Round Table Run in the first meet of his high school career.

  2. Brennan Robin (Parkway) - It's rare to come into a successful program like Parkway High school and make an immediate impact and help the Panthers make history, but that's exactly what Robin has done. Coach Kent Falting knew he had something special when Robin went out in the first high school race of his career in Tennessee at the Memphis Twilight Classic and led the Panthers to a runner-up finish in a race with over 500 runners representing eight different states. Robin ran a 16:30 5K in Memphis. This weekend at the Clinton Arrow Cross Country Invitational, Robin lowered his 5K personal record to 16:16 as he finished fourth overall. Robin's time is the fastest 5K ever by a Parkway freshman. Robin also was part of a Parkway team which set a program record for fastest average in school history-16:27.

  3. Anna Lake Watts (C.E. Byrd)- Like Robin, Watts has arrived at The City Byrd during the program's best team in school history-and she is one of the reasons why. Watts finished No. 12 at Cedar Creek's Wallace Martin Invitational at Lincoln Parish Park in Ruston Saturday morning. Watts' time of 19:56 was the fastest time turned in by any freshman on Saturday. Watts also broke the C.E. Byrd freshman record of 20:21 set in 2020 by Jenna Key, who won Saturday with a school record time of 17:53. As a team, the Lady Jackets have never run faster than they did on Saturday. Their team average of 19:26 is the fastest average in school history.

  4. Cecelia Duggan (Zachary)- Duggan won Saturday's Lake Charles Toyota McNeese Cowboy Stampede with a time of 20:26. It's Duggan's second consecutive personal record as she set a PR in her first high school meet-Episcopal's Round Table Run. Duggan's time in that three-mile race was 20:24.
