POLL: Vote on the MileSplit LA Boys 14U Athlete of the Year!

SBR JAG'S MICHAEL MCKENZIE COMPETES AT AAU CLUB!

These athletes have won Performer of the Week polls during the summer. Now, it's time to decide who will be the 2023 MileSplit LA Boys' 14&U Athlete of the Year

MICHAEL MCKENZIE - Won the first ballot of the summer with 76% of the vote. It was the largest percentage in any of our polls this summer. Mckenzie finished second in the 80m hurdles at last year's AAU National Junior Olympics. He has been putting in the work and has lowered his personal record almost a full second from his 13.15 a year ago.

JOSEPH RIVET - Won the week poll with 46% of the vote. Rivet caught our eye with a massive throw of 176-8 at the Louisiana Governor's Games. Rivet will be competing this week against the nation's best at the AAU National Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa.

RUDYARD WEST  - The defending national champion in the 100m looks to keep the streak going this week at the AAU National Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. The 12-year old has already won one national championship this summer with his 12.01 at the AAU Club Championships. He won the week No. 3 poll with 36% of the vote.

COLLIS TEMPLE IV - After a great performance at the USATF Southern Association Championships, Temple won the Week No. 4 poll with 43% of the vote. Temple has lowered a couple of personal records this summer. He lowered his 800m PR at the USATF Southern Association Championships with a winning time of 2:52.77. At the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics earlier this month, he had his fastest time in the 1500m. His 5:42.53 was good enough for the win in that championship event as well.

LANGSTON LOVE - Won the Week No. 5 poll with 40% of the vote. Broke the three minute in the barrier in the 800m in a big way with a win and a personal record of 2:56.70 at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics.

TAIRON PONDS - Ponds was the runner-up in the 12-year old boys 100m at the AAU Club Championships (12.21). Ponds took home the win in our last poll of the summer. It wasn't easy. Ponds had 27% of the vote, edging out Deandre Carter, who had 25% of the vote.
