The finalist for MileSplit LA Boys' Athlete of the Month made the ballot by finishing first or second in our weekly MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week polls. The MileSplit LA Boys' Athlete of the Month poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
MONTRELL MORRIS (DUTCHTOWN)- Morris was the Week No. 1 MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week winner with 39% of the vote. Morris made the ballot by his impressive performance at the LSU High School Classic where he finished second in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
JUSTIN HORNE (JOHN CURTIS)-Horne finished second in the Week No. 1 MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week poll. Horne received 23% of the vote after his Carl Maddox Fieldhouse composite record time of 7.90, which currently ranks No. 8 in the US.
JACKSON JARRETT (DAVID THIBODAUX'S STEM ACADEMY)- Jarrett was the winner of the MileSplit LA Boys' Peformer of the Week No. 2 poll. Jarrett received 41%, which was the most of any male athlete. Jarrett made the Week No. 2 poll by his performance at the McNeese High School Indoor No. 1 where he finished second in the 1600m with a time of 4:43.03. It was the highest finish of any Louisiana runner in the meet. There is only one other sophomore in the state who has run faster in the event.
KOHEN BEAVERS (CARENCRO)- Beavers finished second in the Week No. 2 MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week poll. He received 21% of the vote in the poll. He made the ballot by winning the 55m with a time of 6.63. The senior lowered his time this weekend at the McNeese High School Indoor No. II, running a 6.57.
MARQUEZ STEVENSON (CAPTAIN SHREVE)- "Macho" won the Week No. 3 MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week poll by getting 36% of the vote. Stevenson made the ballot by setting the meet record in the 60m during his first meet of the season--the LSU High School Qualifier. Stevenson ran a 6.85, which ranks No. 31 in the nation. He also finished third in the 400m (50.15).
KYRON SUMLER (JOHN CURTIS)- Sumler finished as the runner-up in the Week No. 3 MileSplit LA Boys' Performer of the Week poll. He made the ballot by an impressive performance at the LSU High School Qualifier where he won the high jump with a 6-4, which ranks No. 1 in the state.
