KOHEN BEAVERS (CARENCRO) -Opened his indoor season with an impressive win in the McNeese Indoor No. 1 55m (6.63). He ran even faster in the prelims (6.60). Beavers is looking to the make the podium in the 60m at the LHSAA State Indoor Meet after finishing fifth (6.99) a year ago.

JACKSON JARRETT (DAVID THIB0DAUX) - Finished second in the 1600m (4:43.03) at the McNeese Indoor No. 1. It was the best time of any Louisiana runner in the field. Jarrett's time is currently ranked No. 7 in the state. While he did not run the 3200m this weekend, he did run a 10:30.83 at the LSU High School Classic and is ranked No. 8 in La. after two weeks into the 2023 indoor season.

GERMAIN SMITH-MATA (WARREN EASTON) - What happens at the end of the indoor season is anybody's guess, but what we do know is that through two weeks in the 2023 indoor season Warren Easton's Germain Smith-Mata is the fastest HS sprinter in the state. He ran a time of 6.76 in the prelims of the 60m at the Carl Lewis Invitational this weekend. Smith-Mata's 6.85 in the finals was good enough of for second place. In that final, he edged out Westgate's Mekhi Boutte (6.91). Now, we will have to wait until LSU's Last Chance Qualifier before we see Smith-Mata compete.

JEREMIAH BOUDREAUX (AIRLINE) - Even though Boudreaux played in a basketball game on Friday night, there were no ill effects as the Viking made his 2023 debut Saturday morning at the McNeese Indoor No. 1. He won his first event--the high jump with a clearance of 6-0. From there, Boudreaux finished sixth in the 55m (6.89). He finished his day with a second place performance in the triple jump (42-0).

BRODERICK DAVIS (SCOTLANDVILLE) - Was running so fast in the Boys 4x200m that he ran out of his shoe. While that may bother most runners, Davis said it made him run faster after the spike flew up in the air behind him. In fact, Davis put the Hornets in the lead after his spike came off. Davis won the triple jump (44-5) and finished second in the long jump (22-8).
