With the 2023 indoor season beginning this Saturday with the LSU Indoor Classic , it's a good time to check out the rankings for returners in every event. Zachary's Rhen Langley, who signed with LSU during the early signing period, leads in both the 1600m (4:18.90) and 3200m (9:31.83). Langley (1:58.46) is also ranked No. 2 in the 800m behind Pineville junior Justin Descant (1:57.88).
Marquez Stevenson won the 2022 LHSAA Division I 400m with a time of 48.93. He was the only La. athlete to break 49 seconds, but he may have some company this season. At The Galleria Games in Birmingham, Al. last month, John Curtis junior King Taylor opened with a 49.1.
Stevenson (6.94) is also ranked No. 3 among returners in the 60m, showing he is the most versatile sprinter in Louisiana. He proved as much at the LHSAA State Outdoor Meet winning the Class 5A 400m (47.19) and finishing second in the 100m (10.59).
