22' XC PRESEASON RANKINGS!: Boy's and Girls' No. 13-8

BOYS TEAM RANKINGS 13-8

13. Episcopal of Acadiana

Episcopal of Acadiana resurfaces as one of the favorites among Division IV. Last year they finished second at the Class B state meet and look to return everyone that competed there last year. An important note is that three of their top seven boys were freshmen last year and have the potential to make the sophomore leap that some boys experience. In terms of potential, the team has one of the best opportunities to outshine how they performed last year.

12. Holy Savior Menard

Yet another Division IV school enters the fold with Holy Savior Menard. They finished fourth last year at the Class 2A state championships, but return six out of their top seven, not to mention the majority of their team being underclassmen. They may not have the low-sticks that other teams have but they prove to have consistency amongst their runners. You have to keep an eye on this team because if you blink, you may just miss their entire squad fly by.

11. Parkview Baptist

Parkview Baptist enters Division III with a ridiculously young team. Despite losing its top runner last year, the team returns six of its seven runners, all of which were no older than sophomore status. The question is not of how well will these boys will return to the scene, but rather how much they will improve. All of these boys are so young that the potential for growth is simply immeasurable.

10. St. Michael

Division III program, St. Michael does not mess around with a returning squad that already boasts four runners with personal bests below 17-minutes. This is not an easy feat to accomplish and may prove favorable for a potential championship this coming year. The problem that this team faces is the gap that these top four hold on its fifth and sixth runners. These two are close in proximity to each other, but in relation to their teammates ahead of them, this gap is threatening.

9. Episcopal

The Class 2A runner-ups return six of their top seven while entering the Division III stage. They have some seniors returning for their final season as well as some younger runners that may step up after getting some more experience under their belt. I also wouldn't be surprised if Episcopal felt they have something to prove this season after having their record of consecutive state championships halted last year by Dunham.

8. Holy Cross

Division II welcomes another high-quality distance program with Holy Cross. They did not have as strong of a finish at the 5A state meet last year as they could have had, but they return five of their top runners surely with the hopes of improving. If you look at how each of their individual runners finishes, then you may notice the pattern of how finish. They are fairly consistent throughout the season, which can be beneficiary when it comes to expectations for the state meet.
