ATHLETES TO WATCH...

1. Svenya Stoyanoff (Christ Episcopal School--Class B Girls')

There isn't much this senior with 12...yes, 12...state championships has not accomplished. But there are some boxes to check off before completes a storied high school career, which began with winning state championships as an eighth grader. One thing she hasn't done is a distance grand slam--a state championship in cross country, indoor state meet, and outdoor state. Barring disaster, that will happen on Thursday. Another thing which might happen is winning three state championships in one meet. She has won two, in fact she has won two outstate titles in every state meet she has participated in. Thursday, she will go for the trifecta, with the hopes of helping Christ Episcopal defend their Class B title from a year ago.

2. Ericleon May (Family Christian School -- Class C Boys')

While Ericleon May won state in the 100m and 400m a year ago, the senior from Family Christian will add 200m to his To Do list on Thursday on the opening day of the LHSAA State Track & Field Championships. If he is successful, and a deep Family Christian team can execute, Family Christian School may be able to add a state championship trophy to the trophy case after the Class C Boys basketball championships in March.
