NATCHITOCHES -- The Redemptorist boys and Dutchtown girls won team championships Saturday morning at the annual Northwestern State Invitational high school cross country meet on the same course that hosts the yearly LHSAA state championships.
Redemptorist won although its 78 points were equalled by Haughton. The Wolves' sixth-place runner finished higher than his counterpart for the Bucs. Dutchdown was third in the boys division with 101 points, followed by Parkway (112), LaGrange (212), Loyola College Prep (253), Hornbeck (309), Natchitoches Central (329) and Grace Christian (366) among the teams finishing five runners and scoring.
Mitch Landry of Haughton was the individual boys champion, covering three miles in 16:07.3. Second was Joseph LeGrange of Redemptorist in 16:17.6, while Shane Hershberger of Benton took third in 17:05.9.
In the girls race, Becca Blubaugh of Airline won in 18:02.5, followed by Kaitilyn Flattemann of Benton in 19:03.9, and Taylor Slack of Loyola College Prep with a 20:00.0 time.
Dutchtown scored 54 to win the girls division, followed by Buckeye (109), Loyola College Prep (154), LaGrange (167), Airline (172), and Redemptorist (183).
