SHREVEPORT-Both the men's and women's cross country teams performed well at their host meet on Saturday. The Ladies finished in third with 54 points, while the Gents took fourth with 79 points.
The college men opened up the morning with an 8K race where senior Adam Nerio finished in third place with a time of 27:12.24 to pace the Gents. Following Nerio was freshman Miles McDonald with a 10th place finish and a completed time of 28:06.57.
Sophomores Chris Patterson (29:58.79) and Jonathan Martin (29:59.29) placed in the top 20, finishing 19th and 20th respectively. Rounding out the Centenary runners were junior David Micinski (30:42.99) in 27th place, freshman J.J. Templet (31:01.77) in 29th, and junior Matthew Keus (33:34.51) in 37th.
As a team, Centenary tallied 79 points for a fourth place finish. Grambling State was the top team with 46 points, followed by Northwestern State (53) and Lon Morris (66) in second and third. Behind Centenary were Letourneau (102) and East Texas Baptist (172) in fifth and sixth.
On the women's side, the Ladies' top runner in the 6K race was again, senior Cara Miccoli with a fifth place finish in a time of 24:20.28. Not far behind was sophomore Brittany Wilkens (24:24.87) in sixth.
Sophomores Jacquelyn Batson (25:18.26) placed 11th, while Mellyn Baker (26:08.36) was 14th. Seniors Jessica Brown (26:50.26) raced for 18th place and Sunny LaGrone (29:16.92) finished 29th.
With 54 total points, the Ladies took home a third place finish behind Northwestern State (34) and Grambling (44). Rounding out the team scores were Lon Morris (118) in fourth, Louisiana Tech (130) in fifth, while East Texas Baptist (156) and Letourneau (164) finished sixth and seventh respectively.
The Ladies and Gents will be back in action on October 17th when they travel to Sam Houston State's Invitational.
