Baton Rouge, La.- The Loyola men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park on Saturday.
In the men’s 8,000 meter race, Kieran Harper was Loyola’s top performer for the third consecutive race. The freshman from Kings Park, NY, completed the course in a time of 31:17 in 72nd position. Alex Mayon was next across the line for the Wolfpack with a 31:37 time finishing two places behind Harper for 74th. Other runners included Galen Westerfield 33:31 (86th), Alex Hall 33:50 (87th), Kenny Tsao 34:15 (88th), Adam Mayon 34:44 (89th), and Chris Graugnard 35:36 (96th). Loyola finished 12th out of 13 teams in the team competition ahead of GCAC foe Dillard.
In the women’s 5,000 meter meet, senior Madeline Falcone led the Wolfpack with a time of 22:20 which placed her 57th. Annelise Rickert had a personal best for the third consecutive race (24:21) to finish in 82nd place. Lauren Fereday was seven seconds behind Rickert in 83rd. Jenna Knoblach had a personal best coming in with a time of 24:44 in 86th. Clare Hearns rounded out the Loyola competitors with a time of 24:50 in 88th. The Loyola women finished 12th out of 16 teams.
The Loyola cross country team returns to action on Saturday, October 3rd at the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Florida.
