Today we will look at the girls rankings from top to bottom. Some of the top girls in the state from last year return. Let's see if they can improve this year. Again, if you are interested in doing a top 10 poll for big schools or small schools, contact me at vesselfamily@bellsouth.net. Now let's get down to the rankings!

5A:

  1. St Josephs Academy - No one even close! Like Catholic High this team will be hard to beat. Senior Isabelle Brown leads a star studded team.

  2. Mandeville - Solid 1-7 team that averages under 20 minutes.

  3. Fontainebleau - A lot like Mandeville and could challenge for a trophy.

  4. Mt Carmel - Led by 3200m champ Hope Shales. They hope to make some noise this year.

  5. Dominican - Sophmore Kelsey Major leads this team to round out the top 5.

4A:

  1. Vandebilt Catholic - Coach Dave Malone will have his team ready to repeat. Brynn Kelso leads this solid team.

  2. St Michael - Junior Hailey Humphries leads a team that could make a run at a title.

  3. St Scholastica - Led by Sophmore Brooke Naccari, this team will have to work hard if it wants a trophy.

  4. Lusher Charter - Solid 1-2 but need to find a 3-5 to get in the mix.

  5. Cabrini - Senior Pierra Charles should be sub 20, but the rest of the team needs to roll with her.

3A:

  1. Academy of Sacred Heart NO - No Mary Nusloch, no problem. Solid 1-7 will be tough to beat.

  2. E.D. White - Drops in Class this year. Senior Mary Grace Foster leads this team.

  3. Parkview Baptist - Josie Whipp and Callie Hardy are a strong 1-2 punch. Could be very dangerous if they find a 3-5.

  4. University High - Led by Junior Sofia Bongiorni.

  5. Erath - Rounds out the top 5 in 3A

2A:

  1. Holy Savior Menard - Can the Vaughn sisters Claire and Katharine go out top? I think so.

  2. Newman - Sophmore Allison Nowak leads a solid team

  3. Louise S McGehee - Sophmore Ellie Schmidt leads a team very similar to Newman. Could challenge.

  4. St Thomas Aquinas - 800m sensation Breanna Becerra leads a team that could get in the mix with Newman and Louise S McGehee.

  5. Dunham - Rounds out the top 5 with a decent 1-5.

1A:

  1. St Martin's Episcopal - Isabella Bartholomew leads this team in a wide open race for the championship.

  2. Metarie Park Country Day - Drops down in class to 1A with Elle Powers leading. Should challenge for a title.

  3. Cedar Creek - Junior star Ansley Long will run away from everybody. It won't be close. Can 2-5 go with her for the defending state champs.

  4. St. Frederick - Sophmore Anna Petrus leads this team but I don't know if they can crack the top 3.

  5. Highland Baptist Christian School - Dusti Abshire leads this team to round out the top 5.

B:

  1. Christ Episcopal - Return all 7 runners from last year. Svenya Stoyanoff comes in with a 19:21. This race could be the best of them all!

  2. Episcopal of Acadiana - Could be listed as 1A here and may have 3-4 in the top 10. Should challenge for a title.

  3. Runnels - Number one runner in Class B Senior Annie Fink leads a team that should be in the mix for a state title as well.

C:

  1. Claiborne Christian - With Christ Episcopal moving up this could be a title year.

  2. Harrisonburg - Led by Sophmore Julia Borne they could challenge for a title.
