Tulane Wraps C-USA Outdoor Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Junior Olivia Kizzee turned in a pair of second place performances as the Tulane track & field teams wrapped up the 14th annual Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Tulsa. Kizzee was the runner up in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

In the 100, Kizzee posted a time of 11.51, which tied the track record for Tulsa's Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium. But Blessing Okagbare of UTEP set a new C-USA record with a mark of 11.21 to take first place. Kizzee's time of 23.65 in the 200 was just .18 back of Houston's Grecia Bolton, as Kizzee finished as the runner up.

Sophomore Zandria DeBowles finished third in the 400-meter hurdles, as her time of 1:00.74 was just 1.57 behind the leader.

Fellow sophomore Rebecca Coady placed sixth in the 1500-meter run, turning in a time of 4:39.72.

Freshman Ana Ruzevic's javelin throw of 40.56m was eighth in the event, while freshman Kelly Curtis placed 14th (34.36m) and junior Arielle Minor 18th (32.23m). Minor added a shot put throw of 11.33m to finish 20th.

Tulane's 4x400 relay team came in eighth as sophomore Aieshia Brooks, Kizzee, DeBowles and Coady teamed for a time of 3:50.21. The 4x100 relay squad of freshman Kasey Rodgers, Brooks, freshman Raquelle Collins and sophomore Brree Carter placed 10th with a mark of 49.24.

The Tulane women wrapped the C-USA Championship in 11th place.

On the men's side, the freshman 4x100 team of Garrett Myer, Jared Firestone, Max Weber and Koplan Nwabuoku finished sixth with a time of 44.73. The 4x400 squad of Firestone, Nwabuoku, Myer and fellow freshman Jordon Holtzman placed eighth in 3:29.01.

Freshman Craig Kolwicz was 13th in the javelin with a distance of 48.67m, while freshman Jonathan Kirby placed 15th with a throw of 45.91m. Freshman Brian Lozes finished the 5000 in meter run in 16:11.37, placing 19th.

The Tulane men finished in eighth place as team.

Select Tulane student-athletes will participate in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in Louisville on May 29-30. Tulane's Rebecca Coady (3000 Steeplechase), Ana Ruzevic (javelin), Zandria DeBowles (400 meter hurdles), Olivia Kizzee (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash) have posted qualifying marks this season.
