OXFORD, Miss. – Highlighted by a personal-best time from Jarvis Mansfield in the 110m hurdles, the ULM track & field team capped off another strong performance at the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday evening.
Mansfield crossed in a time of 14.61 seconds, which is two tenths of a second better than his previous personal-best mark of 14.81 seconds at the Texas Relays earlier this month. Mychal Word recorded a top-10 finish in the 400m dash, coming in fourth with a time of 47.08 seconds.
Josh Howard added to the top-10 finishes for the Warhawks with his seventh place effort in the triple jump. Howard recorded a distance of 47-9.00 feet. Brandon Smithers finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 23-1.75 feet.
On the women’s side, it was Heather Davis leading the way once again. She finished second in the high jump after she cleared a height of 5-8.75 feet, missing first place by just over three inches. Lakeitha Elmore recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the discus throw and shot put, respectively.
Elmore threw the discus 41.17 meters to finish in 10th, while she had a seventh-place finish with a mark of 14.45 meters in the shot put. Sadrina Shaw finished seventh in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds while Aimee Soileaux came in sixth in the javelin with a distance of 38.55 meters.
ULM will be back in action when it travels to Baton Rouge, La. for the LSU Alumni Gold event on Saturday with the ULM Warhawk Classic to come the following weekend on April 25 at Groseclose Track at Brown Stadium.
