PHILLIP WRIGHT II (2ND FROM THE RIGHT) STRUGGLES IN THE 100m AT THE LHSAA STATE OUTDOOR MEET
If there was any debate on who the fastest high school athlete in Louisiana is, Destrehan's Phillip Wright ended the discussion on Thursday when he ran the fastest times in the state in both the 100m and 200m at the Dutchtown Invitational.
In his first race, Wright, a wide receiver who signed with LSU Football during the early signing period, ran a 10.34, surpassing Brusly junior Patrick Gales, who had Louisiana's fastest 100m time of 10.61 in a performance at the Texas Relays where he had a 3.0 tailwind.
Wright's time is tied for No. 34 in the nation.
Later in the meet, Wright returned and ran a 20.65. That time passed Sterlington's Nathaniel White, who has had Louisiana's fastest time since week No. 1 of season.
