Alvy Carragher and Katarina Caraway finished one-two in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase at the LSU Tiger Relays on Saturday to lead McNeese State’s contingent.
Carragher posted a winning time of 12:04.65 while Caraway ran 12:28.50 for second place.
The only other top two finishes McNeese had during the second day of the meet was one by javelin thrower Ben Chretien and one by the women’s distance medley relay team.
Chretien went 217-1 for his runnerup finish in the javelin and the team of D’Anna Lambert, Lyndsey Monteith, Whitney McKinnie and Amy Guinn ran 12:27.65 for second place in the distance medley.
Others scoring points for the Cowgirls during Saturday’s events were DeAnn Washington with a fifth place in the discus at 146-11 and a seventh in the shot put at 44-8 3/4.
The Cowboys’ 4x100 meter relay team of Andre Salmon, Donovan Anderson, Ronald Stine and Charles Jackson ran 41.80 for sixth place and ran a 1:27.69 in the 4x200. The foursome had broken 41 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay in prelims on Friday.
Also for the Cowboys, Jacob Domingue finished eighth in the discus at 156-11.
Other finishes for the Cowgirls had Tinette Burger run 18:50.94 for ninth place in the 5000 meters and Brittney Kleckley clear 10-6 for 12th place in the pole vault. Aisling Casey was 13th in the 1500 meter run at 5:16.13.
