Wolfpack opens outdoor season in So. Miss. Invitational

Hattiesburg, Miss. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams opened up their season at the 2009 Southern Mississippi Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Saturday.

 

For the men, freshman Robert Hayden finished 14th in the 800M with a time of 2:26, while Adam Mayon placed right behind him with a time of 2:28.

 

In addition, both runners ran the 1500M for the Wolfpack. Hayden, from Boylston, Massachusetts, finished 11th with a time of 4:58 and Mayon finished 12th at 5:01.

 

For the women’s team, two runners represented the Wolfpack in the invitational. Rachel Leonard, a sophomore from New Orleans, placed 13th in the 800M at 2:40 and Joilynn Hollies ran at 3:00 to finish 18th.

 

Hollies, a freshman from Yucca Valley, California, also ran the 1500M at 6:13 for an 8th place finish.

 

The Wolfpack returns to action on March 27th-28th in the LSU Relays in Baton Rouge. The event will start Friday at 7 a.m.
