HOUSTON, Texas - Senior Shaina Pelham placed fifth in the 400-meter and helped the Green Wave relay team place fifth in the 4x400 as the Tulane women's indoor track & field team wrapped the C-USA Indoor championship at Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston.

Pelham turned in a time of 55.92 in the 400-meter, 0.18 seconds off her season-best, earning Tulane four points. Then she ran the first leg of Tulane's relay team, handing off the sophomore Aieshia Brooks while senior Vanessa Kienast ran the third leg and junior Olivia Kizzee finished up as the Wave placed fifth in 3:51.51. The time was Tulane's seconds best this season and gave the Wave four more points.

Kizzee finished seven in the 200-meter, posting a 25-even time, which was also her second best performance of the indoor campaign. Tulane earned a pair of team points in the event.

In the 3000, senior Keriann Langley placed 14th in 10:23, her second best effort in the event this season. Redshirt freshman Julia Whitrock posted her best 3000-meter time, 10:27, placing 19th. Freshman Elizabeth Piazza followed suit with her 12:04 being a personal best. She placed 29th.

Freshman Johanna Gretschel finished 14th in the mile with a season-best 5:08 time, while sophomore Rebecca Coady posted her top time of the season, finishing 16th in 5:09.

With 20 team points, the Wave finished tied for 10th with Marshall.

The 2009 NCAA Championships are March 13-14 in College Station, Texas, with the Green Wave awaiting the invitation list. The Green Wave team will open the outdoor season March 14 at Southern Miss.
