William Rogers Named ULM Cross Country Head Coach

MONROE, La. --- ULM track and field head coach J.D. Malone announced on Tuesday afternoon the hiring of William Rogers as cross country head coach. Rogers' hire is pending final approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

"William comes very highly recommended and has been affiliated with a couple of very strong programs," Malone said. "It's always exciting to have a young and eager coach joining your staff and it is no different here. He will be a great addition for us."

After a standout collegiate career with the nationally prominent Arkansas Razorbacks, Rogers completed his education at Louisiana Tech in 2006. After a two-year stint with Fleet Feet Sports in Fayetteville, Ark., he began his collegiate coaching career as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Northwestern State.

Since his graduation, Rogers has worked for Adidas in both Houston and Memphis and has served as the training partner for Christine Wurth-Thomas, a member of the U.S. Olympic Team.

"I am excited for the opportunity to coach at a university with ULM's tradition," Rogers said. "Coach Reep did an exceptional job recruiting this past season and put together a lot of talent, particularly on the men's side."

Rogers succeeds former ULM cross country coach Toby Reep who accepted the vacant head coaching position at Memphis in July.
