Cajuns Compete at ULM Warhawk Classic

MONROE, La.-Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the ULM Warhawk Classic on Saturday. Three Cajuns hurdlers captured first place finishes during the meet.

Freshman Taryn Simmons placed first in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, freshman Louis Stevens placed first in the men’s 110-meter hurdles and sophomore Stacey Fuller placed first in the men’s 400-meter hurdles.

In women’s action, Simmons placed first in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a time of 1:02.44. Lina Futi placed third in the event with a time of 1:07.31 and Danielle Favinger followed with a fourth-place finish.

Amy Doucet captured a second place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 124 feet, 3 inches.

Constance Robinson placed third in the 400-meter dash with her time of 59.65 seconds. Robinson also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash after she recorded a time of 25.98 seconds.

Casey Brown placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:02.70. Kioloni Readeaux posted a mark of 18 feet, 7 1/4 inches to place fourth in the long jump.

In men’s action, Stevens captured a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles after posting a time of 14.97 seconds. Fuller placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.16 seconds.

Brent Adams picked up a first-place finish in the high jump with his mark of 6 feet, 4 3/4 inches.

Roderick Houston placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.43 seconds. Houston also placed ninth in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.86 seconds. Casey Comeaux placed fourth in the javelin with his throw of 188 feet, 5 inches.

Ben Leonards placed third in the shot put with his throw of 46 feet, 6 inches. Matt Desormeaux placed seventh and Jordan Folse placed eighth.  Folse also placed seventh in the discus with his throw of 151 feet, 3 inches. Leonards placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 137 feet, 2 inches.

Reese Lee finished sixth in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:59.23. Joey Wynn placed 10th in the 400-meter dash after posting a time of 50.93 seconds.

Kenneth Bellard finished seventh in the long jump after he posted a mark of 22 feet, 1 1/2 inches.

The Cajuns are set to host the Bob Cole “Twilight” Classic on Wednesday, April 30.
