Who do you look up to as an inspiration to your running?

My mom has been the largest source of inspiration for my running. When I was in second grade, she would take me on runs with her which taught me to love running.

Up to this point in your running career, what has been your most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment for me has been the Episcopal race last year. It was my first cross country race with the team since I recovered from having Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome in both my calves, and we had a stellar race that set the stage for the remainder of the season.

How do you balance your academic workload while competing at a high level year round?

I try to do as much work as I can during my free time at school, and I start my homework as soon as I get home from practice. Also, I make sure that I get enough sleep because I have found that I work a lot better when I am well rested.

If you only had one song to listen to before your race, which would it be?

I don't always listen to music before a race; but when I do, I prefer to listen to a free style rap from teammates.

What is your favorite workout?

My favorite workout is a four mile tempo run. I like being able to run hard without interruptions, even if I am forced to do 16 laps on a track

Are you interested in running after high school and if so, what are you looking for a in school in order to determine if it is the right fit for you?

I am interested in running for a college; but the main things that I look for in a college are the location, the size, and the academic programs they offer. However, whether or not the school has a team that I could realistically run for does also play a big factor too.

What meets are you looking forward to the most this year?

By far I am looking forward to the state meet the most. We're going to have our work cut out for us if we want to repeat, and having John Curtis in the mix just makes it all the more exciting.

What is your pre-meet or pre-race routine that you like to follow?

I like to spread out my uniform and warm up clothes next to my bed each night before a meet. When I wake up, the most important thing I do is make sure that I have used the bathroom enough to avoid the port-a-potties… Other than that I just like to scope out the course with my teammates.

How many days a week do you run?

Six days a week, I like to save Sundays for a nice bike ride.

And lastly, what food do you crave most after a hard workout or a race?

Sushi! I'd eat that stuff during a workout if I could…
