BATON ROUGE, La. - Senior Aubrey Phillips and freshman Lauren Dalrymple finished second and third overall, respectively, as the Tulane cross country team won its third team title in as many meets with a 30-point win Saturday morning at the LSU Tiger Cross Country Festival.

Tulane ran away with the meet, scoring 27 points, distantly ahead of second place LSU, which finished with 57 points. The team has scored wins at its home meet, the Green Wave Invitational, the Southern Miss Invitational, and now at the LSU Tiger Cross Country Festival.

"This is a good win for the program," Tulane Assistant Coach Chris Neal said. "This is a meet the girls have looked forward to for a long time, after our showing at LSU last year. The goal of the team was to be undefeated to this point of the season."

Phillips was the top finisher for the Green Wave with a time of 21:49.25, placing second behind Tinette Burger of McNeese State. Behind Phillips for the Green Wave was freshmen Lauren Dalrymple (third - 21:50.10) and Rebecca Coady (fourth - 21:59.94), senior Keriann Langley (sixth - 22:14.81) and junior Cecelia Clarke (12th - 23:12.26).

Tulane's top four runners finished within 25 seconds of each other, something the coaches and team have been working hard to accomplish. Running together as a team is important to the Green Wave Neal said.

"This win was about the girls - working hard all summer, and running together as a team in this meet. The team ran together and that is what we've been talking about for a long time," Neal said.

The Green Wave defeated five other schools for the team victory - LSU, Southeastern La., Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, and Nicholls State - in what was largely a Louisiana state meet.

"The win was fantastic. A win is a win, but this was a great win. We have looked forward to this meet for a long time. The conference teams have beaten LSU already, so we really wanted to have a good showing today, and we did that," Tulane Head Coach Heather Van Norman said.

The Green Wave will next travel to the plains of Auburn, Ala., next Saturday, Sept. 29 for the Auburn Invitational, which will be the Green Wave's biggest meet of 2007 to date.
