LeBlanc qualifies for '16 US Olympic Marathon Trials

LAKE CHARLES - Former McNeese standout distance runner Jarrett LeBlanc is one step closer to living his dream when on Sunday, he clocked a 1:04.19 for a 36th place at the Houston Half Marathon Championships.

With his time, the Hathaway native marked under the Olympic Trials qualifying standard of 1:05 meaning he has qualified for next year's Olympic Marathon Trials.

His minutes per mile time during each 5k split were 4:52, 4:50, 4:53, 5:03 and 4:59.

LeBlanc ran in the 2013 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Round in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. He finished second in the 10k at the SLC Championships that same year and at one point ran the fastest time in the nation in the 1,500 meters.

He finished third at the 2012 SLC Cross Country Championships where he helped lead the Cowboys to the team title while earning all-conference honors in the process.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the marathon will be held on Feb. 13, 2016 in Los Angeles.
