ULL Track Earns Points in Day 1 of SBC Meet

  LAFAYETTE- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s track and field team scored two points in Day 1 of the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.   Joby Gisclair finished seventh in the men’s 10,000 meter run scoring two points for the Cajuns. Gisclair recorded a time of 33:31.07.  Also in the 10,000 meter run, South Alabama’s Vincent Rono placed first with a time of 28:57.51, breaking the previous Sun Belt Championship record, which he set himself. Chance Perkins scored 2,255 points in the first five events of the men’s decathlon.  Suzanne Boudreaux and Callie Picou both competed in the women’s 10,000 meter run. The completion of the decathlon and heptathlon, along with finals in certain field events and running prelims will be held Saturday, beginning with the decathlon at 9:00 a.m. Field events begin at 12:30 pm., and running prelims are set to begin at 6:00 p.m. For complete meet results from Day 1, visit http://www.sunbeltsports.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4100&ATCLID=884516
