BATON ROUGE, La. – Sofia Johnsson finished third in the women's heptathlon with a solid overall performance to lead the New Orleans Privateers track and field team at the LSU Alumni Gold meet on Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium.
Johnsson finished with a point total of 5,041 and landed just 19 points out of second. Madison Hansen of Harvard took first place in the seven-disciple event. Johnsson won two individual events during the heptathlon, the 200-meter and long jump while setting three personal bests. "Her long jump, her hurdles and 200 are all PRs," said Head Coach Mike Erb. "It was a great experience against some really quality programs around the country."
Roy finished both of his sprints with times of 10.61 in the 100-meter and 21.32 seconds in the 200-meter. Constant Pretorius ran the 400-hurdles in a time of 52.81. Both athletes competed in the Section B Finals on the day, which marked the final in-state meet the Privateers participated in.
The Privateers will head to Hattiesburg for two straight meets before the Southland Championships. New Orleans will participate in the Golden Eagle Classic on Apr. 26 and the Black and Gold Invitational on May 3.
