ULM Completes Weekend at Memphis Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The ULM track & field program wrapped up the weekend with its throwers and a jumper competing in the Memphis Invitational in blustery conditions on Saturday at the Billy J. Murphy Track Complex after its runners took part in the Texas Relays the previous three days.

The Warhawks notched seven top-five finishes and a pair of second-place performances.

ULM shined in the women’s javelin throw as junior Megan Caillouet and freshman Mi’Ca Lowe finished second and third, respectively. Caillouet registered a score of 35.53m while Lowe’s toss was marked at 34.81m.

Freshman Alexis Gordon recorded a third-place throw of 43.63m to lead ULM in the discus and also registered a toss of 11.04m in the shot put.

On the men’s side, freshman Jevaughn Shaw highlighted the action with a second-place finish in the discus with a personal-record of 51.06m. It crushed his previous best of 48.26 set at the Jim Mize Invitational earlier this season.

Shaw also etched a score of 12.37m in the shot put, just behind fellow freshman Alton Clay who scored at 12.66m.

Sophomore Joey Womack took third in the javelin with a throw of 57.30. Sophomore Blaine Armstrong also finished top-five with a 55.17m toss.

ULM’s lone jumper, sophomore Corey Wesley, placed fourth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.94m.

The Warhawks will be back in action next weekend when they compete in the Skecher's Carl Knight Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas. The two-day event begins on Friday.
