SEATTLE - Tulane's track and field team wrapped up their weekend competition at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Saturday, and three 800 meter run runners shone for the Green Wave in the Pacific Northwest.

Sophomore Jessica Adamson, freshman Sara Kebede and junior Michelle Kreutzberg all competed in the 800 meter run at the Dempsey Indoor Track Arena on Saturday, and their times were right on par with what they've done in recent weeks.

Adamson led the way for the Green Wave, finishing the event in 2:15.92, just a shade over a second slower than her season and personal best. The native of Toronto finished second in her heat, defeating runners from Cal Poly, Utah, Washington State and Cal.

Kebede actually improved on her time from last week at the Samford Multis and Invitational, as she notched a new personal best with a time of 2:17.35. She competed in the event for the first time last week, posting a time of 2:17.66. Like Adamson, Kebede finished second in her heat.

Kreutzberg placed third in her heat - right behind Kebede - with a time of 2:17.74. She also set a personal best at the Samford Multis and Invitational last week, finishing in 2:17.01.

"I think that we were all hoping for faster times in this race, but I feel as though everyone of these athletes that competed today have made progress in understanding how to race better," said the director of Tulane track and field, Eric Peterson. "They all made some technical mistakes, but it creates a really good teaching moment for us and an opportunity to get better."

In addition to the 800 meter performances, the Green Wave had two other runners on the afternoon in two different events. Senior Hilary Woods ran in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 59.10. Sophomore Mikayla Sonneborn competed in the one mile, running the event in 5:07.75 just one week after setting her personal best in the event at the Samford Multis and Invitational.

Last night, Kebede, Woods, Adamson and Sonneborn all teamed up to run one of the fastest distance medley relays in school history, finishing sixth in the event with a time of 11:45.72.

"For them to come back after running real well in the DMR last night and to run the way they did today is encouraging as we make our final tune-ups before heading into the Conference USA Championship meet," added Peterson. "I'm excited for the progress that these athletes have made here at this meet. We are now really looking forward to two good weeks of training before we head into the championship portion of the schedule."

Next Friday, the Green Wave track and field program will head up I-10 to Baton Rouge for the LSU Twilight. The following weekend is the Conference USA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
