Girl's Rankings:
- (+1) 1. Mandeville- The skippers take over the top spot this week. With each week they continue to improve, taking out LA#3 St. Joseph Academy at Christian Brothers Invitational and continuing the streak at Highland, winning by 37 points over the same team. The skippers are yet to beat Menard in head to head competition but with a 19:39 team average, and the way they continue to improve each week, we have to give the edge to the Skips.
- (-1) 2. Menard- Runs at the Pineville meet this week. Although we don’t have results on file (Coach send them in!!), Coach Wally was kind enough to send us his team results with splits: Menard looks strong but are going to have to drop a little more to compete with Mandeville this weekend at the composite state meet, I mean Catholic.
- (0) 3. St. Joseph- St. Joseph finished 2nd to a very strong Mandeville team at their home invitational. They are solidly ahead of #4 this week based on times from Chile Pepper - moving neither up or down.
- (0) 4. Parkway- 20th at Chili Pepper, average deceiving due to bad conditions which slowed times significantly. With Chile Pepper aside, Parkway looks to be closing in on LA#3 St. Joseph Academy, their team averages reveal a 3 second difference.
- (0) 5. St. Scholastica- The doves were the top Louisiana team at the MC Watson Invitational finishing 4th with a team average of 16:51 (converts to around 20:20-25 for 3 miles). Although their seems to be a gap int he team above, who knows what will happen between now and November. It’s been a few years but the doves have a few Nachitoches trophies in their school’s cases back in Covington.
- (0) 6. Dominican- #4 at highland with only 1 of their normal top 5. Defending champs from 2012 continue stay at #6 this week, but will they have enough to gather for a late season push?
- (0) 7. St. Thomas More- Idle week.
- (+2) 8. Catholic PC- dropped average under 21, good enough for a third place showing at the prestigious St. Joseph Invitational.
- (+2) 9. Mt. Carmel- Back in the top ten this week after a 5th place showing at Highland, (21:07 average). They are ranked 5th according to our database, however with a loss to Catholic High PC at highland it’s hard to move them up. Looks like the cubs have a lot of potential, but can they all string it together on the same day? Tradition says beware of this team.
- (+1) 10. St. Thomas Aquinas- The women falcons also find themselves in the top 10 this weekend after a 17:31 team average for 4K, (converts to 21:10-15). Database rankings put Episcopal at a close 10, but with their showing this weekend at St. Joes - their arch 2A rivals steal the final spot in the rankings this week.
Boys Rankings:
- (0) 1. St. Pauls- The wolves continue to dominate the rankings. Kraemer Jackson is back from injury, a little out of shape, but soon to join, potentially, all his teammates in the 15’s. With a team average of 15:56, the state’s top two runners in Zach Albright and freshman Eric Coston, the potential of DC Lipani (9:26 3200), Albright #2, and the eventual joining of Jackson in the mix - the strength of this team continues to be scary and continues to solidly put them at #1.
- (0) 2. Catholic- Holds on to second place and keeps the name in the hat for the runner-up trophy for 5A
- (+1) 3. Brother Martin- Huge showing at St. Joseph’s this week. Gallgher’s crusaders finally run with full strength team and looks to be ready to challenge Catholic next week finishing a mere 4 points behind them at SJA.
- (-1) 4. John Curtis- Moving backwards, while still the favorite for 3A, JC is still a bit away from competing with the top 5A schools
- (+1) 5. Epscopal- As usual, EHS gets better towards end of the season. A little off from some of the teams above them, but looks like with the moving of Curtis from their class, Dupe will be cruising to the Knight’s ten thousandth title in 2A.
- (-1) 6. Jesuit- Looking good for a team with only a couple seniors. Should finish no worse than top 5 at state. Not bad for a rebuilding year, both in coaching and in runners.
- (+4) 7. Shaw- Phenomenal showing by Shaw this week. Undoubtedly stunned Mandeville, Week 4-LA#8, and Ascension Catholic, Week 4-LA#9, in the process. Can push to be a top 5 team at state if team stays healthy. A few recovering injuries on the team, bodes well for a potential rise even further upward.
- (0) 8. Mandeville- 8th at St. Joes team with a team average of 17:13
- (-2) 9. West Monroe- an underwhelming show at MC Watson. The team has potential and a reputation for showing up in Nachitoches, for now they drop to #9.
- (-1) 10. Acenscion Catholic- 9th at Highland. Looks to be able to mop up 1A competition next month.
