Salute to Seniors - Christian Johnson - Episcopal High School

It was a great 2012-2013 in both cross country and track across the Bayou State. Many of our seniors will soon be on their way to start their college careers both athletically and academically so we wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature.

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race was probably junior year state cross country meet when EHS was seated second and St. Thomas Aquanis was seated first. EHS ended up winning with great performances by all of us!

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

My Biggest competition would probably be Joseph St Cyr and Enrque Soto.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment would be adding to the streak of Episcopal state titles to make 17 in a row for EHS!! I am proud to say that me and my teammates are part of that 17!

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could do it all over again, I would take in all the races with more attention. It just went by too fast.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Well running a race was always really hard, making sure youre putting in all your effort. Also, run through any sicknesses that I may have had during the season. Ex. ( I had a form of mono during 2013 track season)

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the whole Episcopal program. My coaches and teammates were amazing and I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to make relationships with such great people. I will miss them all very much.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

My advice would be to stick with it. At first, you might not be very good at running, but then one day it will just click and it becomes a lifestyle! Also, I would tell them to always remain humble, and enjoy every race.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach had an immense amount of influence. He always was so positive no matter what the situation. Though he wanted us all to be great runners, he wanted even more for us to be great people.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending Emory University. I am running cross country and track there, and hopefully be on the pre-med track.

Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to say thank you to my coach. He is a great coach and a great person who never gave up on me!

Anything you would like to add?

I would like to say that this sport opened up so many doors for me and I'm so thankful for that. I have made friendships with guys from other schools and countless memories that will always stay with me!
