Salute to Seniors - Logan Pearce - West Monroe High School

It was a great 2012-2013 in both cross country and track across the Bayou State. Many of our seniors will soon be on their way to start their college careers both athletically and academically so we wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature.

What was your most memorable race?My most memorable race has to be the 2012 State cross country meet my senior year when our team won the state title. I also got the school record in the 3 mile that year. Our team had bonded for four years and this proved to be our strongest year.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

It is hard to narrow it down to just one person because there were so many If guys out there that pushed me to run times I didn’t think possible, but I feel like Neil Fitzpatrick was my biggest competition over the four years.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment has to be the day I signed with University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am very blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of an awesome team with great coaches.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If there is one thing I would change about my high school career, I would have taken the opportunity to run at bigger meets like Foot Locker. Other than that I loved every second of it.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Dealing with getting nervous before a big meet was definitely my biggest obstacle. Hopefully that’s something that I’ve learned to conquer before my first college cross country meet.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my teammates at WMHS the most. We spent a lot of time together so we became more like brothers than teammates.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

I would tell them to never give up and never let anyone tell you that you can't. We had a lot of people tell us that and it only made us stronger. Always put God first in everything you do and he will bless you.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Coach McDuffie has been like a second dad to me. He has always been there for me and poured so much of his time into me. He is the main reason I have done so well over the four years. I couldn’t have asked for a better Coach or friend.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am very excited about going into Biology and running for the Ragin’ Cajuns! Hopefully we can win a conference title.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I want to say thank you to God for blessing me with amazing parents who have supported me in everything. Also, for giving me this talent that I know I take for granted. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me.
