5 Questions Before LSU HS Last Chance

Can this end up being one of the best distance track seasons in state history?  We've already seen some outstanding all-time marks so far though the season and we still have two meets left.  Five of the six all-time lists (boys and girls) have top 10 indoor marks from meets this year and I have a feeling by the end of it, there will be a top 10 all-time boys mark in the 3200 as well.

Will the private schools leave the LHSAA at the end of the year?  With the LHSAA trending towards separation, it is obvious the next step is the Olympic sports where the privates are known to dominate more than the major sports that have already voted to split.  If/when the privates form their own league, will we see a state championship at Highland Road or Tad Gormley in the future?

How will the new cross country qualifying affect the 5A state meet this year?  Next year in 5A cross country, in order for a team to qualify for the state meet they must place top 8 at their regional (which will use the same region as track).  Individuals from non-qualifying teams in the top 25 will also qualify.  This would bring the total number of runners in line with the rest of the classes.  Hopefully the next step is to see classes combined in cross country.

Can John Curtis break the Catholic High track championship streak?  John Curtis is currently dead even with Catholic High in projections for the state title.  Things look in JC's favor as the majority of their points come from athletes who will face little challenge, or at least are locks to be podium contenders.

How many nationally recognized athletes will the state produce this spring?  With athletes like Mondo Duplantis, Kemondrick Walter, and Chris Edwards with national top 10 rankings currently, will these rankings hold up throughout the spring?  LA is known to produce a few good ones each year.  It will be interesting to see who develops and stays on top.
