Hayfield senior Melissa Dewey earned All-American honors by finishing 13th overall at the 2004 Foot Locker Nationals race held at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. Dewey finished with a time of 18:23 on the 5K course and was the second highest finisher from the South region after finishing fourth at the Foot Locker South Regional race. Fellow Virginia Aurora Scott finished 28 seconds behind Dewey in 26th place. The Western Branch freshmen was the third finishing freshmen of five total in the race. The race was won by junior Aislinn Ryan of New York in a time of 17:31.
On Monday, November 15th the FACA All-Star meet will be posted at Micouskee Greenway in Tallahassee. The top seniors from the four cardinal regions of Florida are invited. If you feel you or an athlete you represent are qualified, contact your respective coach.

The Wendy\'s Invitational held at McAlpine Greenway Park marked the return of 2003 AA 3200 outdoor state runner-up Pat Eggleston to the Brentsville boys\' lineup. His first race back seemingly gave his entire squad an energy boost, especially junior Nick Gehlsen. Gehlsen stole the thunder from AA #2 ranked teammate Eggleston as he posted AA\'s first sub 16 clocking of the season with his fifth place clocking of 15:56 and helped Brentsville return from Charlotte with the first place team trophy against some of North Carolina\'s best teams.
