Baton Rouge, La.- Freshman javelin thrower Leslie Bourgeois and junior distance runner Wongani Phiri recorded first place finishes at the Pelican Relays held this weekend in Baton Rouge.
Bourgeois turned in a 149-foot toss, while Phiri traversed the 3000-meter run in a time of 11 minutes, 36 seconds.
Other competitors for Nicholls included Dominique Harris (100-meter dash, 200-meter dash), Heather Gamble (100-meter dash) and Keri Fremin (100-meter dash).
The distance medley team placed sixth with a time of 15:24.56.
Nicholls outdoor track and field team will return to action Thursday, April 27, when they travel to participate in the Ty Terrell Relays in Houston, Texas.
