School-record mark by Lindsy among 4 NSU wins at ULL meet

LAFAYETTE – Wins by Sarah Emory in the 10,000 meter run and Ashley Aldredge in the javelin, a school record 400 meter hurdles winning time by Consuela Lindsy, and a victory in the women’s 4x400 meter relay topped Northwestern State performances in the Louisiana Classics Track Meet hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
 
Emory ran the second-fastest 10k in school history, 39:43.38 to win, with teammate Shana Lee third at 43:59.96. Aldredge threw 156-10 on her first attempt and fouled on the remaining five, but it was a winner by 19 inches.
 
Lindsy won in 1:01.22, erasing the Lady Demon record of 1:01.89 by Lakeisha Henderson in 1998. She outran Brittany Covington of Mississippi State (1:01.59).

She later ran the anchor leg on the winning 4x400 relay team, which clocked a 3:44.29 time by Quiana Griffin, Constance Seibles, Lawana Perkins and Lindsy.
 
NSU’s Karensa  Ellis covered 1500 meters in 4:41.90, the third-fastest mark in Lady Demon history, and took seventh place. She was eighth in the 800 (2:19.15).

The Lady Demons’ Ali Fontenot ran 11:55.81 for runner-up honors in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase.
 
The Demons’ foursome of Keenan Jackson, Karllis Perry, Dez Williams and Kendal Taylor posted a third-place 40.92 in the 4x100 meter relay. LSU won in 40.26.

In the men’s 4x400 relay, NSU finished third in 3:13.95 by D.J. Beyette, Taylor, Travis Plumb and Jackson, topped only by an unattached team and LSU.
 
Plumb (1:56.13) and Beyette (1:56.98) finished 4-5 in the men’s 800. Mark Dotson (15:38.66) ran fourth in the 5000 for NSU.
 
The Lady Demons ran fifth in the women’ s 4x100 as Angelica Kotun, Quiana Griffin, Constance Seibles and Eboney Vaughn posted a 47.09 clocking. P.J. Bennett ran 14.98 for fifth in the men’s 110 meter hurdles.                                
 
Aaron Williams gave NSU fifth in the men’s long jump (22-2 ¼) and Wayne Douglas claimed eighth at 21-9. The Demons got a fifth from high jumper Jordan Clark, who cleared 6-6 ¾.
 
Douglas (47-1 ¾) and Emmanuel Williams (47-1) went 5-6 in the men’s triple jump, with Aaron Williams taking eighth at 45-11 ¾.
 
Nathanial McReynolds ran 10:29.11 to finish sixth in the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase.
 
Chantel Bratton took sixth in the women’s shot put with a 42-10 ¾ mark as former Lady Demon All-American Trecey Rew Hoover won with a 50-5 ¼ throw, competing unattached.
 
Janae Allen finished sixth in the women’s discus at 143-4 and teammate Shakemia Johnson took ninth (139-6).
 
Seibles (25.12), Griffin (25.14) and Kotun (25.27) finished 7-8-9 among 63 competitors in the women’s 200.
 
Allen was seventh in the hammer throw (168-6) with Bratton ninth (164-5), both personal bests. Sarah Jones was ninth in the long jump (17-8).
 
Lawrence Jackson was ninth in the men’s 400 (49.37). Kirstie Jones (21:02.85) ran ninth in the women’s 5000 and Erin Knox was ninth (1:08.78) in the women’s 400 meter hurdles.
 
Northwestern will compete next weekend at the Texas-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational, then at the Texas Relays before The Leon Johnson NSU Invitational on Friday, April 6 at the Walter Ledet Track and Field Complex.
