SPS boys, Dominican girls dominate at Christian Brothers XC Invite.

 

The St. Paul’s boys captured the team title at the Second Annual St. Paul’s Christian Brothers Cross Country Invitational held at the Solomon Episcopal Center in Loranger on Saturday. The SPS boys currently ranked the number one team in the state, scored a very low score of (22) to runner-up Jesuit with (67), Walker was third(86), Mandeville fourth(139), Newman fifth(174), Northshore sixth(192), Ponchatoula seventh(193), Slidell eighth(251), Fontainebelau ninth(298), University tenth(306), Covington eleventh(329), John Curtis twelfth(335), Lakeshore thirteenth(339), Sumner fourteenth(358), St. Charles Catholic fifteenth(363) and Live Oak sixteenth(486).  Local distance runner Kraemer Jackson(Hammond) led the St. Paul’s team with a second place finish in (15:59), just behind Jesuit’s Neal Fitzpatrick who captured the individual title in (15:57). Sumner’s Leonel Moreno posted a 17th place finish in (17:11), while Ponchatoula’s Phillip Ernst was 26th(17:35).

            In girls action, the Dominican girls dominated the field of 116 runners to score (35) to Mandeville’s (71), Fontainebleau was third(97), Newman fourth(115), St. Scholastica Academy fifth(146), Episcopal sixth(156), Northshore seventh(162), Walker eighth(192), Sumner ninth(233), Lakeshore tenth(263), Live Oak eleventh(313), Slidell twelfth(342), and St. Charles Catholic thirteenth(358). Eight grader Gabrielle Jennings was the individual winner in (18:08), while Mandeville’s Angelica Dickson was second in (18:45). Ponchatoula’s Dana Reno posted a 19th place finish in(20:42), while Sumner’s Scotti Dykes was 26th(21:28).

            St. Joseph’s Lydia Pevey captured the individual title in the Junior High girls race with a time of (13:28) to runner-up Hayley Schwab from University High that ran (13:49). The Episcopal girls captured the team trophy with (34), University was second(46), St. Joseph third(49) and North Corbin fourth(113). Joining Pevey on the third place SJS team were: Sara Lavastida(5th-14:37), Peyton LaSaicherre(9th-15:23), Haleigh Habisreitinger(18th-16:10), Maria Guay(26th-16:32) and Holly Guay(29th-16:40).

            St. Paul’s edged-out the Walker boys (42-44) in the Junior High boys division, while North Corbin was third(64) and University High fourth(76). University’s Hank Patrick was the individual winner in (11:29), while Walker’s Trevor Johnson was second(12:11).
