It's Week No. 2 of the Louisiana High School cross country season. In North Louisiana, that means one thing...The Border Dash, hosted by Parkway High School. Here are five things we are looking forward to at South Bossier Park.
The Stickers are Coming! The best girls program in Louisiana for the last decade--St. Joseph's-- is headed to North Louisiana to compete in their first The Border Dash. After falling to Mt. Carmel Academy at the LHSAA D1 State Cross Country Championships, the Stickers are on a mission to get back to the top of the podium in Natchitoches.
The Stickers are led by sophomore Hannah Schneider, who finished third with a time of 18:02 at last weekend's Bayou Boogie Classic hosted by St. Michael.
Seniors Cate Barbier (18:48), Hope Lemoine (19:22) finished in the top seven. SJA scored 18 points and dominated the field. Teurlings Catholic was the runner with a score of 56 points.
The Goat...Parkway's Brennan Robin. Robin, who was dubbed "The Goat" by his teammates over the summer, is certainly running like he is on a mission to make them right. Robin opened his senior year at the Coach T Marcus Invitational in Denton, Texas last Saturday. He ran a personal record 5K of 15:08. That is a personal record and moves Robin into the Top 7 all-time in the MileSplit LA database.
What will Robin have in store for high school cross country fans in his final Border Dash? We cannot wait to find out.
The Ruston Rocket...Eden Dawsey. Speaking of nicknames, we don't know if the "Ruston Rocket" nickname will stick, but what we do know is that Dawsey is one of the best runners in Louisiana and, according to head coach Dustin Cochran, Dawsey has had a great summer of training. We are looking forward to seeing where Dawsey opens her junior year at the Border Dash.
Lafayette's Maddox Tolbert. Tolbert finished fourth at last year's Border Dash with a time of 16:14. A week later, he ran his personal record of 14:59 at the LCA Knights Invitational. Tolbert was not able to match that time, but he was able to win the District 3-5A Championship. Tolbert is looking to finish strong in 2026 after a disappointing finish in 2025.
Parkway-Ruston Battle. Parkway head coach Kent Falting and Ruston's Dustin Cochran are good friends off the course. Don't let the niceties fool you, on the course, they are as competitive as you will find. The fire filters down to their runners, and it usually comes down to the No. 5 runner when these two programs meet up. Brennan Robin aside, both teams are without some of the big names they have had over the last few years.
