 BATON ROUGE – Sam Vidrine and Mariah Georgetown walked off with top honors here Saturday during the LSU Alumni Gold track and field meet.

Vidrine won the men's javelin event with a throw of 227-7 while Georgetown took the women's high hurdles with a school record clocking of 13.75, breaking her own mark.

Alvy Carragher had a runnerup effort in the meet, taking second in the women's steeplechase with an 11:43.02 time.

Other top five performances saw Joshua Sawe running 3:55.52 in the 1500 meters for fourth place, Ashleigh Wells posting an 11.91 for fifth in the 100 meters, Desarae Couthrenrunning 1:04.03 in the 400 hurdles for fifth place and Amy Talbot going 4:39.38 in the 1500 meters for fifth.

Top 10 efforts for the Cowboys had Michael Washington with a sixth place finish in the 800 meters at 1:59.15, Curlee Chance going 189-4 in the javelin for seventh place ,Thomas Canchola ninth in the shot put at 50-4.75 and Xavier Stevens posting a 46-0.5  distance for seventh in the triple jump.

Wells also ran seventh in the 200 meters at 24.47 while Paige Lynch was ninth in the 100 meters at 12.19, Couthren ran eighth in the 100 hurdles at 14.54, Ashlee Smith was sixth in the discus at 149-4 and Andrea Myers posted a 5-5 best in the high jump for ninth place.

Other performances had: Kayla Fontenot 12th in the 100 hurdles (15.17) and 23rd in the long jump (17-1.5), DeAnn Washington 13th in the discus (133-11) and 10th in the shot put (45-2.25), La'Shantena Rounds 16th in the hammer (143-6) and 14th in the shot put (40-6.25), Jasmine Cornelius 11th in the long jump (18-3.15), Courtnei Carter 13th in the long jump (18-1.75), Haley Carrier 21st in the javelin (112-6), Charles Jackson 12th in the 100 meters (10.64) and 12th in the 200 meters (21.57), Darren Keyes 18th in the 200 meters (22.30), Ryan Thomason 20th in the 200 meters (22.47), Alex Kiptoo 11th in the 1500 meters (4:10.41) and Parminder Singh 11th in the high jump (6-5).

Next up for the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be the ULL Cole-Lancon meet in Lafayette on April 30.
