TULSA, Okla. - On Monday at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships the Tulane cross country team enjoyed a solid day of individual efforts, but the team results were not what they had been looking for. Of the 14 runners that competed for the Green Wave, nine of them posted personal bests, while the men's team finished eighth and the women's squad posted a ninth place showing. Rebecca Coady paced all finishers for the Green Wave with a 24th place showing in a time of 17:45.00. Her time on the 5K course set a new personal best for the senior. Coady outdid her time from the Chile Pepper Invitational on October 16, 2010 by 1.07 seconds to pace the women's squad. Julia Whitrock placed 36th overall in a time of 18:10.00, marking the fifth time this season that Coady and Whitrock have been the top duo for Tulane. Katherine Crabtree posted a career-best showing for the second straight meet on Monday, running 18:46.00 for five-kilometers. Callie Turlington ran a personal best 18:58.00 to place fifth on the team and 60th overall andAimee Arceneaux placed 85th overall in a career-best time of 20:06.00.Emmi Aguillard was the fourth Tulane runner to cross the finish line in a time of 18:56.00, missing a PR by just three seconds.
As a team, Tulane placed ninth out of 12 schools in the meet, with Tulsa winning the team title with 27 points and Rice finishing second with 57. UTEP (97 points) was third followed by UAB (102), SMU (132), East Carolina (141) and Houston (201). Southern Miss was eighth with 211 points, Tulane finished ninth with 233 points, while Memphis (293), UCF (334) and Marshall (381) rounded out the results.
Max Miller was the top finisher on the men's team for the second time this season with a 40th place finish. Miller, a junior from Katy, Texas, posted a career-best time of 26:19.00, dropping nearly over 50 seconds off of his previous PR. Brian Lozes placed 42nd in a time of 26:26.00 and Jordan Vance, who also posted a personal best, ran 26:31.00 to finish 45th. Mike Mainguy (27:01.00), Phil Scruggs (28:09.00) and Ryan Rigali (28:15.00) each posted personal best showings at the C-USA Championships, as well. The Olive and Blue finished in last place on the men's side, scoring 235 points to place eighth, with Tulsa taking the team title with 34 points. UTEP was second with 42 points, Rice was third with 87 and Marshall placed fourth with 101. East Carolina (121), Houston (184), Memphis (234) and Tulane rounded out the team portion of the meet.
