ULM\'S MEN\'S AND WOMEN\'S TRACK FINISH CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

HOUSTON, TEXAS- The Louisiana-Monroe men\'s and women\'s track team ended their indoor season Saturday, at the Southland Conference Championships, in Houston, Texas. ULM\'S women finished ninth and the men finished 10th.

\"I think we hung in there and now we have some time for our injuries to heal, before the beginning of the outdoor season,\" said Head Coach J.D. Malone.

For the men, Maya Aden placed second in the 3000-meter run and picked up eight points, with a time of 8:38.73. The men also came in second in the distance medley, with a time of 10:16.41, picking up eight points. Richard Sampson finished third in the triple jump and Rani Giladi finished fourth. Smpson\'s mark was 14.73m and Giladi\'s mark was. 14.57m. They combined for 11 points with those finishes.

On the women\'s side, freshman Sherita Price finished second in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 7.56. Price was awarded eight points for her second place finish. Veronica Karlsson picked up four points, with a fifth place finish in the weight throw. Her mark was 14.82m. Lilia Rivera placed sixth in the shot put (13.38m) and Karlsson placed seventh (13.18m).

ULM will have some time off until they compete in the Southern Miss. Invitational on March 12, which will begin the outdoor season.
