Track and Field Wraps Up Successful Competition at Windy Golden Eagle Invitational


Olivia Kizzee and Kasey Rodgers placed second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events. Kizzee posted a time of 12.35 in the 100 and 24.55 in the 200, finishing second in both races, and Rodgers went 12.38 and 25.34 in the two events.

Rebecca Coady won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:42.43 to win the event by nearly eight seconds and Rachelle Melancon won the pole vault with a 2.74-meter showing. The 4x400 meter relay team of Jamie Riles, Kizzee, Tiffanie Smith and Vanessa Kienast posted the squad's best time of the year as they crossed the finish line in 3:44.46 to best the previous season-best mark by nearly five seconds.

Jordon Holtzman posted a runner-up finish in the 800-meter event with a career best time of 1:57.93. Brian Lozes placed third in the 800-meter with a personal best time of 1:58.72 and later claimed the 1,500-meter event with a 4:08.51 showing, besting his nearest competitor by six seconds.

Corey Squire gave a career effort in the 5,000-meter event to collect his first individual victory of the season in a time of 16:39.90

The next schedule meet for the Olive and Blue is the Conference USA Outdoor Championships which start on Wednesday, April 12 in Orlando, Florida.
