DENHAM SPRINGS LILA SILK (8) COMPETES IN 800m AT THE LSU HS CLASSIC
January is now in our rearview mirror. It's February, and with each passing day we get a little closer to the LHSAA Indoor Meet, which will be held Saturday, February 21st at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse. Here are the finalists for MileSplit LA's Week No. 4 Performer Of The Week. Congratulations to all of the finalists. The poll will close on Saturday at 9pm. The Winner will advance to the MileSplit LA Indoor Athlete Of The Year at the end of the season.
SCARLETT PETTICREW (LAFAYETTE)--Won the first pole vault competition of her senior year with a jump of 11-6. Petticrew celebrated with lunch at Darrell's before returning to cheer on the Lafayette boys in the pole vault.
LEAH BRYANT (CAPTAIN SHREVE)--The Captain Shreve senior navigated through three rounds in the girls 55m hurdles. Bryant came away with the win in her the season opener of her senior year. Bryant's time was 8.87.
JA'NYA GRAY (ALEXANDRIA)--Gray, a sophomore, battled to a win in the 55m at the McNeese Indoor No. 2. Gray's time in the finals was 7.41.
ALAYSIA TITUS (LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN)--Titus finished in the top four in both the long jump and the triple jump. In the latter she finished as the runner-up with a mark of 37-6. In the long jump, Titus finished fourth with a jump of 17-3. In the triple jump, Titus ranks No. 4 in Louisiana.
LILA SILK (DENHAM SPRINGS)--The freshman had a runner-up finish in the 800m. Here time of 2:25 is a personal record and ranks in the top 20 all-time performances by La. high school freshmen.
KAITLYN SAWYER (HATHAWAY)--Sawyer, who is one of the top five milers in Louisiana, had another outstanding 1600m coming away with the win in a time of 5:10, just .05 shy of the meet record. Sawyer returned at the end of the meet to win the 3200m in a time of 11:43.
