We Are Going Outside! Breaking down the Javelin!

Traditionally, the javelin has been one of the strongest events in Louisiana. The rich history goes all the way back to April of 1966 and the "blonde bomber"--Terry Bradshaw, competing for Woodlawn in Shreveport. Bradshaw had eight throws in five meets better than the listed national record. His best throw came on April 29 when he threw the old javelin 244-11.75 at the City Meet at Bossier High School.

The future of the event is bright. West Monroe's Jaxon Talley, who is only a sophomore, is No. 5 among returners on the national list. His throw of 200-6 at last year's Coach Jack Williams Relays is the best throw by a freshman in Louisiana history and ranks No. 3 in the US all-time.

Talley is set to open his sophomore campaign on Saturday at ULM'S D&H Sports High School Meet

Louisiana's Top Returning Boys in the Javelin!

The talent in the javelin is not limited to the boys. There are several outstanding girls in the event who are ready to let it fly in 2025.

At the top of the list is Bunkie's Kaylen Rabalais, who had a season best last year of 151-7 at the LHSCA Meet of Champions. That mark has her as the top returner this year in Louisiana and No. 9 in the nation.

Not far behind Rabalais is Sterlington's Ana Robinson, who had her best throw of the District 1-3A Meet with a throw of 140-0. After an off meet at the Region 1-3A Championships (118-6), Robinson finished third at the LHSAA Class 3A State Outdoor Championship with a throw of 132-5.25.

Like Talley, Robinson is set to open her season on Saturday at the D&H Sports High School Meet.
