EPISCOPAL'S NEVA LAMBERT COMPETES IN THE LSU HS QUALIFIER
Congratulations to Calvary's Jackson Burney and Episcopal's Neva Lambert! They are this week's MileSplit LA Performers of the Week. They have earned a spot on the MileSplit Indoor Athlete Of The Year ballot which will come out during the last week of February.
Burney, an LSU signee, garnered 6,564 votes in the MileSplit LA Boys' Performer Of the Week poll. Mandeville's Max Jacketti was the runner-up with 2,883.
In the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer Of the Week poll, Lambert received a whopping 17,577 votes. Airline sophomore Shelby Ledet was the runner-up with 15,223 votes.
It was their performance at the LSU HS Qualifier which earned both Burney and Lambert a spot on the ballot. Burney was the fastest of six runners who broke 2:00 in the boy' 800m. He finished with a time of 1:58.
Lambert finished on the podium in the girls' 3200m. Her time of 11:30 was good enough for a third-place finish. It's also the third fastest time in Louisiana this year. It's also the third all-time fastest indoor 3200m by a freshman in the MIleSplit LA database.
As a reminder, nominations for MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week can be emailed to Jerry Byrd at milesplitlaeditor@gmail.com ever Sunday evening by 7pm.
