Don't bother looking for a freshman in the top 100 of Louisiana's fastest fastest high school boys. You won't find one. That's not the case on the girls side where Lafayette freshman Lyric Louis is ranked No. 12 in the state with a best of 7.90 at the Galleria Games in December. Louis is this week's MileSplit LA Future Star.
Louis mother was a pole vaulter at St. Thomas More in Lafayette. When Louis began her track and field career, she had aspirations of following in her mother's footsteps, but soon found out that pole vaulting was not her cup of tea.
