ALEXANDRIA'S CARTER RIVET WAS ALL SMILES AFTER AN IMPRESSIVE HIGH SCHOOL DEBUT AT THE MCNEESE INDOOR No. 1!
Louisiana track and field fans who have been following summer age-group action of the last few years are familiar with the name Carter Rivet. Well, Carter has arrived on the high school scene and opened up this chapter of his career with a throw of 51-8 at the McNeese St. Indoor No. 1 Meet.
The throw is currently No. 2 in the nation among all freshmen. It's also the No.1 throw for a freshmen in the MileSplit LA database.
The aforementioned database does not go back to the 1980s when Airline's Arnold Campbell threw the shot put 60-3 to win a state championship as freshman and set a World Record for 14-year-olds in the process. But that was during the outdoor season. We have no records of Campbell competing indoors as a freshman.
In attendance for the first meet of his high school career was his dad, mom, and older brother Hunter, who is in his first year competing for Louisiana Tech Track & Field.
MileSplit LA was there too and talked to Carter after the competition. Hear what he had to say about the first competition of his high school career.
