Benton Tigers Sweep MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week Poll!

BENTON HC BRYSON MATTHEWS TALKS TO HIS TEAM AFTER SATURDAY'S BORDER DASH!

Over the first two weeks of the season, the Benton Tigers have started off the year strong. While their work over the summer is showing up in the results, the support they receive from their friends, family, and classmates showed up in the MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week polls this week as the Tigers made it a clean sweep.

Junior Brody Hutchison won the boys' poll with 51.9% of the vote (20,856 votes). Hutchison edged out Parkway's Brennan Robin, who had 44.28% over the vote (17,794).

Hutchison's teammate Claire Allen won the girls' poll with 47.36% of the vote (4,159 votes). C.E. Byrd's Mallory Swint was second with 27.32% (2,399).

Both Hutchison and Allen led their teams at Parkway's Border Dash on Saturday. Allen finished third with a time of 19:17 while Hutchison finished fourth with a 15:55.

Hutchison's effort led the Benton boys to a third-place finish at the Border Dash. The team average was 17:07. Allen led the Lady Tigers to fourth place finish as the girls scored 111 points and had an average time of 21:48.

The performance by Hutchison and Allen was really no surprise after looking at the results from the Tigers season opener at the Bob Gravett Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas last week. Hutchison finished second in the boys race with a 5K time of 16:27. Allen finished fifth in the girls division with a 20:39.

Both Benton teams finished with 77 points. The Benton boys were the runner up and the girls' finished third.

Hutchison and Allen will advance to the MileSplit LA XC Runner Of The Year Poll at the end of the season.
